Basically the learning curve in this one is on a completely different level. So if you prefer starting on the other end of the world you will have to adapt. Pirates look weak at first but in close quartes they just mow down everything with their low reach high speed weapons. It seems that a lot of troops is highly specialised. they run fast like horses with 36 horse speed :D Getting those weapons for you seems like a big struggle. So you need tier 5 nightwatch troops to face them. nightwalkers can only be hurt by valyrian steel, fire arrows and obsidian arrows. There is no way escaping them than hiding in a city because of their OP speed. Also there are tier 6 groups of robber knights in 2 regions (basically half the map) which will hunt only for you. bandit spawns are ignored by the NPCs which makes them come for you only. And I sticked to looters because every other enemy has shields.Tried killing them some other way but it was impossible for me. I bought a bow and 2 quivers to be able to kill simple looters. combine that with the high proficiencies and you will have a tough time. Therefore training troops to a higher tier is only possible with high level characters. The only workaround for me was getting a Florett in Braavos which is a sword with 140 speed They block faster than you, hit faster than you and are overall better even with the horrible AI. The first time i trained a village to defend itself that first peasant clubbed me to death in seconds. troops have generally a high level (7-15 at tier 1) and high proficiencies. you cant recuit in villages if your renown is lower than 100(? could have been 50). I started a brand new character so this may not occur with imported high level characters: just imagine you are a prisoner who has just been released after spending a few years in an oubliette. Balance is messed up, because the player is indeed stupidly underpowered. There are also a lot of interesting mechanics, and they are actually working, as opposed to the ones in the ♥♥♥. (It was before the recent improvements to the Northern goblins) It's hard, but not impossible if you are coming to it after playing The Last Days as an orc, as I was. Neither is really top ten material, in my opinion, although if you forced me to choose, I'd at least try playing the fire&ice.Ĭonsidering what a piece of work the developer is, I doubt the ♥♥♥ has changed for the better.Īnd what are Awoiaf redeeming qualities?Challenge, for one. The other mod, whatever of fire and ice, is at least playable.

Poorly modeled weapons, whole troop lines that are functionally useless, bad map nodes, broken lord A.I., nonsensical damage model, broken diplomacy, a ton of exploits, unearned, overly powerful rewards for trivial tasks, frustrating random events, hanging triggers, imported mods without understanding of what makes them work. Nice to look at, but not even close to a good Warband experience.

I have no idea who the creators of the other mod are, and I am certainly not motivated by them, but in my opinion, the ♥♥♥ is not worth playing, at all. Here is what I wrote an year or so ago, when I tried it last: At least, it did not work the last three times I gave it a honest try, and I am not going to try again. Why is Clash of Kings bad?The ♥♥♥ is bad because it simply does not work. AWoIaF has redeeming qualities, and can actually be played as a Warband game.
